Camp Fire

Around the Fire

With the chill in the air and the leaves crunching underfoot, there's something truly special about gathering around a campfire in the autumn or winter. Our "Top 5 Campfire Wild Spaces" are chosen for their atmospheric settings, where the warmth of the flames contrasts beautifully with the brisk outdoors. Here, you can wrap up in blankets, toast marshmallows, and enjoy the comforting glow under starry skies.

Each space is ideal for safe and responsible campfires, following our guidelines to protect the landscape. These spots, nestled in woodlands or by tranquil waters, offer the perfect escape to enjoy nature’s seasonal charm and share memorable moments around the fire. So, brave the cold and find your warmth in the heart of the wild.

Tall Pines

Ross-on-Wye

A really wild corner of Herefordshire, it feels like you are stepping away from the world here. Host Emma encourages campfires and you can purchase wood when you arrive. Lots of space to explore & very sheltered for those winter camps.

Generation Tree

West Yorkshire Dales

Host Rob originally didn't permit fires here until a young campwild member asked him directly after having an amazing night. Rob couldn't resist & now this stunning space is one of few that permit you to build your own campfire.

The Rifle Range

Devon

This is such an epic spot. Not only is it one of the only WW2 rifle ranges you can camp in the UK but the views are amazing, all the way to sea. Camp in vans, cars, tents - whatever you like. And bring your firepits for a cosy night under the stars.

Wild Wood Days

Lancashire

One of the best spaces we have for families as it actually resides in the grounds of a forest school. Access is simple & with a compost loo, water tap & huge firepit, this is a space that comes into its own in the colder months.

The reality is not a huge number of our Wild Spaces accommodate fires. As they are completely wild, unmaintained & left to nature, we take the view that fires can be disruptive & potentially damaging to the flora & fauna present. However, a growing selection of our spaces not only permit but encourage campfires! The hosts of these spaces are often more hands-on & some have built firepit areas deep in their Wild Spaces. Others permit you to bring your own raised firepits & where you have not got far to walk to access the space, this is a perfect opportunity to camp wild with a fire!

During the colder seasons, campfires make for an amazing, memorable & cosy adventure so take a look at these profiles & get your next camping trip planned!
