WILBA: Creating, Protecting & Connecting Habitat

Updated: Oct 18

At CampWild, we’ve always believed that nature should be experienced, protected, and shared. It fuels our adventures and inspires us to create spaces where people can connect with the wild. So, when we came across the passionate crew at WILBA, it was clear from the start that our missions were closely aligned—it felt like it was meant to be. WILBA are a not-for-profit nature impact company that’s making big moves to help increase biodiversity right here in the UK. "work alongside farmers and landowners to conserve nature by creating, protecting, and connecting pockets of habitat"

WILBA’s mission is simple but powerful: work alongside farmers and landowners to conserve nature by creating, protecting, and connecting pockets of habitat on marginal areas of farmland. Based in rural Mid Wales, they’ve been directly engaging with nature and farming, aiming to establish a balance between conservation and agriculture. They’re proving that you can boost biodiversity while still running productive, nature-friendly farms, something that is hugely relevant to the UK right now! By focusing on small, unused areas of land—places that might otherwise be forgotten—WILBA helps nature thrive in harmony with farming.

So far, WILBA has created, protected, and connected over 89,000 square meters of habitat. Their projects range from planting hedgerows and laying woodlands to improving wetlands. They take a tailored approach, adapting each project to the specific landscape and working closely with landowners to make sure their efforts align with the land’s natural character.

For us at CampWild, this collaboration feels like a natural synergy. While we’re focused on encouraging people to explore the outdoors and reconnect with nature through camping, WILBA is working to ensure that the landscapes we love stay thriving and full of life. It’s that shared goal—of protecting and preserving the wild spaces around us—that has brought our paths together.

Through our partnership with WILBA, we’re excited to work together on a holistic approach to farming, conservation, and recreation. WILBA has already referred a landowner to CampWild, highlighting the natural synergy between our missions. By partnering, we’re helping to tackle biodiversity gain and foster deeper connections to nature.

At the heart of both CampWild and WILBA’s missions is the belief that we all play a role in protecting wild spaces. We’re excited to support each other along our journeys and see where this partnership takes us in conservation and nature connection. Together, we can turn forgotten patches of land into thriving habitats, ensuring they remain both a sanctuary for wildlife and a place for adventure to be experienced under canvas
